Australasian Society for Breast Disease (ASBD) is committed to observing high standards in its handling of personal information, and respects the privacy of its members, customers and website visitors.

Personal Information

ASBD may collect personally identifiable information such as name, postal address, telephone number, e-mail address, institution affiliation, through various activities of the Association. This personal information is collected and used by ASBD for the purpose of facilitating a relationship or providing information to its members.

The ASBD website resides behind a firewall and uses SSL (Secure Sockets Layer, the industry-standard security protocol used to communicate with browsers) to transmit personal information. Data is strongly encrypted during transmission to ensure that personal information is secure. Industry-standard data encryption techniques are used to protect personal information on PCO computers. SSL-capable browsers typically have a symbol on the browser window to indicate when they are in a secure mode.


ASBD does not sell or rent e-mail addresses to other organisations. ASBD may generate e-mail for the following types of communication:

Mailing Lists

Postal mailing lists, comprised of full name and postal address, will not be sold or given to other organisations.

ASBD occasionally sends informational or promotional materials to members.

ASBD makes every effort to preserve your privacy, but we may need to disclose personal information when required by law.

The only domain covered by the ASBD privacy policy is asbd.org.au The ASBD website contains links to other sites, however, ASBD is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those external sites.

Refund Policy

Annual membership subscription is not refundable once Elsevier (publishers of The Breast) have been notified of the subscription.

Meeting registration cancellations will only be accepted in writing. Cancellations made before the ‘early bird’ registration date will be refunded, less AUD$100 administration fee. Registration cancellations made four weeks’ prior to a Meeting, or as a specified in registration brochure / information will incur a 50% cancellation fee. No registration refunds are made after this date. Alternatively, a registration can be transferred to another person up to four weeks prior to a Meeting without incurring any cost penalty. The Meeting Secretariat must be advised of the transfer in writing.

Delivery Policy

Australasian Society for Breast Disease (ASBD) does not deliver goods. Hardcopies of the journal The Breast are posted to members by Elsevier Science.
